HISTORY IN BRIEF
We identified a market demand for gas evacuation devices for industrial environments which are professional, robust and have a long service life. In collaboration with European partners and Slovenian knowledge centres, we succeeded in developing electric motors with electronic commutation for industrial blower drives. The first motors with electronic commutation were commissioned in November 1988. Production started in 1992. The initial application was for industrial gas evacuation blowers with electronic commutation.
Our programme orientation towards more demanding applications and the expansion of our customer base indicated the need to extend our programme, which we undertook in 1999.
After a year and a half of operation, we acquired new premises, at the address Na Plavžu 79, Železniki; in the next year, we gathered all our activities at this location and thus improved information, material and service flows. The new premises facilitated business growth. We were able to supplement our production activity with sales, development, technology and logistics activities.
On the invitation of the Kärcher company, in 2001, we joined as regular members the German VDMA association. Domel is an active member of working groups on cleaning systems and compressors, compressed air and vacuum engineering. To learn more about the association, visit
http://www.vdma.org.
In January 2002, we expanded our programme to fans with electronic commutation. This programme addresses energy-efficient air conditioning and ventilation devices.
OUR APPROACH
The development of complex products requires the teamwork of experts from different fields: electronics, mechanical engineering, and aerodynamics, as well as specialist motor knowledge. Teamwork is among the core values of the Domel group.
For us, teamwork is the way to optimal solutions and sound decisions. We harness all our conscious and subconscious potential in collective work. To maximise a team's performance, its composition must be interdisciplinary and all its members involved in an active manner. The variety of talents, views and perspectives is instrumental in exploring new ideas and concepts. Our organisation is distinguished for its fast response, clear competencies, know-how, continuous learning, prudence and trustworthiness.
We collaborate with outside institutions such as:
• The Jožef Stefan Institute,
http://www.ijs.si/,
• The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana,
http://www.fe.uni-lj.si/,
• The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana,
http://www.fs.uni-lj.si/,
• TECES – The Technology Centre for Electric Machinery,
http://www.teces.si/.
Domel research teams are equipped with all the software, hardware and measurement technology necessary for our research and development. Software tools include:
• Ansys,
• Pro-Engineer,
• Fluent,
• and others.
Our mechanical and electric laboratory is equipped for research and development projects as well as support of the production process.
With our solutions, we appear as a
design partner in a series of our customers' applications in the following fields:
• medicine,
• dental care,
• printing engineering,
• plastics processing,
• laser machining,
• gaming machines,
• pneumatic post,
• fuel cells,
• drying appliances.
Our customers' requirements are fully served by our sales network. Our representatives provide integrated support and solutions for our customers and applications.
We strive for partnership with our customers. We collaborate with them in the application development phase. We provide total solutions to our customers. We deliver complete systems: motor, electronics, and, where required, actuators such as aerodynamic sets, transmission mechanisms, etc.
Our key competence in providing added value to our customers lies in the fields of:
• development of control and monitoring electronics for electric motors with electronic commutation,
• development and design of electric motors with electronic commutation for higher speeds (5,000 to 50,000 rpm),
• aerodynamic systems for air compressors,
• mechanical transmissions.
Our major challenge is to co-operate in the design of new systems with electronic commutation, according to customers' specifications.
Our quality is demonstrated by:
• international quality certificates meeting TS 16949, ISO 9001 2000 and ISO 14001,
• a Russian GOST market sales certificate.
